Full day in Amboseli National Park with morning and afternoon game viewing drive inside the Park. Amboseli is a photogenic Park and hosts a great number of game and bird life including the lion, huge herds of elephant and the splendid cheetah. Enjoy early morning spectacular views of the snow-capped Mountain. All meals and overnight at your lodge.
Today, it’s an early start after breakfast and enjoy a morning game drive as you drive out of the park. After lunch, you depart Nairobi and drive to the Edge of the Great Rift Valley and stop briefly for the view. This magnificent valley extends all the way from Lebanon across Egypt and Ethiopia down to Malawi. You continue down the valley to Lake Naivasha Country Club. The Club is set on the shores of the Lake and enjoys a superb compound very good for bird watching. After check-in an afternoon boat ride to Crescent follows. On the Crescent Island you have an opportunity to walk among large herds of plains game, which includes waterbucks, grants and Thompson’s gazelle, zebra and birds. You get back for dinner and overnight at lodge.
Leaving Lake Naivasha, you drive leisurely past Lake Elementaita with its formidable population of flamingoes that dot its shoreline to Lake Nakuru National Park for a short game drive enroute to the lodge for lunch. Lake Nakuru is shallow water mass fed by rivers Njoro and nderit. The relatively shallow depth allows for growth of algae, which attract the one and half million of, lesser and greater flamingoes that feed on the shores. In addition, more than 350 different birds’ species have been recorded in this park. Animals to be seen include giraffes, rhinos, waterbucks and a host of other animals. Lunch is followed by an afternoon game drive, dinner and overnight at lodge.
Early this morning we depart Lake Nakuru and drive through the Rift Valley, passing the Suswa Mountains and nearby Mount Longonot, a relatively young volcanic reminder of the Great Rift Valleys’ violent past. You arrive at your lodge in the Masai Mara National Reserve in time for lunch. The Masai Mara is a natural extension of the Serengeti eco-system and has an amazing concentration of wildlife. The largest population of lions in Kenya is found here, along with large herds of plains game. The Masai Mara may also be the best place in Kenya to view cheetah and the rare black rhino. Later this afternoon we enjoy another game drive.
Today you have a full day in the Masai Mara. You start off in the morning with picnic lunch just after breakfast and drive probably down to the hippo pools and watch this ancient mammals wallowing in the muddy brown waters of the rivers, which traverse this reserve. Your picnic lunch is in the Park after which you continue the game drives to a different part of the park and search for animals not yet seen. You will find the undulating plains dotted with rocky outcrops (kopjes) that are favorite resting places for lions in the heat of the day.
